Innovations 2014
The new CombiBox farrowing pen is a further development of the previous, conventional farrowing pen, which, with an increased amount of area of at least 5.5 m2, offers a farrowing crate to protect piglets for the first few days after the birth, which is later opened to allow the sow freedom of movement in the pen. In the development of the CombiBox farrowing pen, Schauer has also focussed particular attention on the functionality and simplicity of operation. For example, the farrowing crate can be opened without tools with one hand. The low pen wall in the entrance area permits unhindered access to the piglet nest and to the trough area, only the movement area of the sow is constructed with a higher pen-separating wall.

Spotmix Welfare, the intelligent function extension for the automatic distribution of material to investigate and manipulate. The EU pig welfare legislation, requires pig farmers to provide their pigs with material for grubbing and play. As contented animals perform better, too, this regulation basically makes sense from the farmers' point of view; on the other hand dispensing by hand involves a good deal of work in many cases. With SPOTMIX WELFARE, an additional function for the tried and tested Spotmix multi-phase feeding system,  it is now possible to spread chopped straw, sawdust and pelletized litter and grubbing material in the bedding areas in the cubicles automatically, in line with actual needs. A patent application for SPOTMIX WELFARE has been filed: AT 510 013 B1.

Silmatic Cut : If long-fibre silage is used in a TMR feeding robot, it needs to be chopped small – which is usually very energy-consuming. The SILMATIC CUT chopper has been specially developed to process long-fibre fodder components for cattle feeding, with lower energy consumption than any comparable system. The chopper is mounted on the Silmatic upstream bunker. Application for registered design filed on 01.08.2012. As an innovation 2014 Schauer launches to the market Silmatic StrawCut a supplementary system to cut and dose automatically hay and straw into the feeding robot system.
